The Simon challenge through the years

“The Simon Challenge, let's ride for épilepsie": a call to action to raise awareness of epilepsy and improve the quality of life of people living with this neurological disorder.

Since 2021, Épilepsie Montérégie has aimed, with this initiative, to improve society's understanding of epilepsy, by educating the public about the realities of this often misunderstood neurological condition, in addition to improving healthcare and support services for people with the condition and their families.

Simon Thibault's initiative via the Défi Simon is so important to the realization of Épilepsie Montérégie's mission, because it helps inspire and spur action in a pro-active and positive way!

Quotes

Ms. Anie Roy

Director, Épilepsie Montérégie

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects tens of thousands of people, who have to cope with many daily challenges and their impact on quality of life and ability to perform activities. The stigma associated with epilepsy can prevent people from seeking help and getting the support they need.

Mr. Simon Thibault

Challenge ambassador

Having lived with epilepsy myself for some thirty years, I have been confronted time and again with the limitations imposed by my condition, including no longer being able to drive my car. Cycling has helped me to look at the positive and show resilience, to bounce back and learn to cope with epilepsy. My bike became my first ally, enabling me to maintain my independence and keep working. The idea for the Challenge was born, and today we're in our 3rd edition.
