It was in 2012 that the National Lavender Day was adopted identifying March 26 as a day to raise awareness of epilepsy: see here.
An initiative of Cassidy Morgan, a nine-year-old girl from Nova Scotia, Lavender Day swept the world with supporters from every continent.
The collaboration of each regional community organization through the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance helped share information and develop new materials to promote epilepsy awareness.
March is Epilepsy Awareness Month!
Message from the Épilepsie Montérégie team
It's a daily challenge to cope with epilepsy, with its inequalities and unforeseen events. With this day, we wish to salute those affected by the disease who demonstrate perseverance and an unfailing will to tame the various grey areas.
We also emphasize the resilience of people who live with epilepsy. When a loved one is diagnosed with epilepsy, the whole life of the couple, the family, work and school is turned upside down.
There are still many myths surrounding epilepsy, and our organization's mission is to debunk them.
